I caved..

And caved and caved. I have been bad this week. Easter is an awful holiday to be on a diet. Tonight I made Cadbury cookies. And they are delish. I am taking them to work tomorrow and saving some for our family picnic on Saturday. So hopefully next week will be a better week for me!

Top 10 Reasons Swimming is a Great Work Out

This week I started teaching semi-private swim lessons Monday and Wednesday nights at the Park City Aquatic Center.  The center is actually connected to the middle school where I teach, and I found out Monday that because I am a teacher, I actually swim for free (It's usually $4 for an adult)! Awesome!

Tonight Brian came with me to observe and practice some teaching techniques, and then we stayed after to swim laps.  Here is why swimming is on of my favorite workouts...
  1. You don't realize you're sweating.
  2. It works practically every muscle in your body.
  3. But it's also great cardio.
  4. It's low impact, which equals no joint pain.
  5. Swimming is believed to reduce stress.
  6. It doesn't really feel like exercise.
  7. It gives you a great physique and toned body.
  8. It gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy.
  9. It's great for cross training.
  10. I just love it!!!!

Guess who has lost 2 pounds? I have:)
So lets talk about some more inspiration....

The camera doesn't lie...

Brian and I checked out Provo Beach Resort and more specifically their indoor flowrider this weekend. Nothing like seeing pictures of yourself in a bathing suit to increase your motivation!
I have a month and a half before I will be sporting a bathing suit all day every day...let the weight loss begin!

..What we attempted to make..

So the other night Charlie and I attempted to make homemade lasagna. I even cut my finger trying to shred the mozzarella cheese, and of course we didn't have Band-Aids. He came home from work and the first thing out of my mouth was "I am a horrible cook... save what I have done!" Guess what-- He did! It actually turned out pretty darn good! We ate it with some caesar salad.

So Yummy:)

Fruit Juice: Good or Bad?

Either way...it tastes delicious!

Bri and I got out our Bullet Express Juicer yesterday and decided to give it a test run. We combined a
-mini watermelon
-2 mangos
-2 bunches of red grapes

The watermelon was just a little overwhelming, so I would recommend using just half a mini watermelon. It was a juicy, delicious, expensive, refreshing mess. :) We definitely plan on juicing again, although probably using an actual recipe.
In other news...I went running today!  Only about a mile, but hey it's a start.

What I ate...

Breakfast- a bowl of cereal and fat free milk
Lunch- A muscle milk, a Pina colada Yogurt and 1/2 apple
Dinner- Chicken salad sandwich made with miracle whip on whole grain 100 cal bread with lots of watermelon.

Can I just say watermelon is delicious this time of year. I always look forward to eating a tons of watermelon in spring and summer. It is sooo good and so light. Anyway, that's 'what I ate'.

For exercise...
I went to an hour of pilates. Which is really fun on the machines and a total ab workout.
Then Lyndsey and I went on a walk for about 45 mins (wish Ash was closer so it was easier to work out together).

No sugar?

So once a year, my boss and his wife do a whole month without sugar. Crazy? maybe? But before you say no, he has lost 11 lbs and she has lost like 7. Just in one month. You may be thinking I can cut out the desserts and sodas easy but it is more than that. It is anything that adds sugar like white bread and pasta, most cereals, yogurt, ketsup etc. But it seems to be around everywhere lately. Such a here and here. You can still have fruit with this diet because it is a natural sugar not an added sugar.

So for my diet/ change to a healthier lifestyle I am going to do this. Just a little bit modified. I'll be eating only whole grains, no processed white breads for me. Also, I am still going to have yogurt! I can't help myself I love a yogurt with lunch and my boss said it really shouldn't effect the diet that much. Lots of ham and chicken as well as fruits and veggies for me. (and protein shakes) Wish me luck! I did it for a couple of days last week and really think that this is the best option for me. Baby making weight here I come!

Day 1

Today, we went to Chick fil la and decided we should all lose our post wedding weight. We decided to use this blog to help us share recipes, exercises and ideas on losing weight and living healthier. So I will let everyone introduce themselves.

First, the oldest Ashley...
Well where to start?!? I am a middle school teacher living in Park City, Ut, and I just got married to my favorite person in the whole world on December 18th, 2010. These past 3 months of married bliss have been wonderful, but I've recently that my clothes are getting a little too snug. ;) My goal is to find a way to balance my lifestyle so that I can still cook awesome/delicious meals with my husband, have fun, and find time to enjoy the outdoors and exercise.

Next, the middle child Whitney...
Hey! I have been married for two years! We got married November 22nd, 2008. It has been a blast but stepping right into the married wife role I made a lot of cookies and a lot of comfort food dinners. Mix that with lots of cuddling and not a lot of exercising and what do you get? Post wedding weight. EW! My goal is that by posting on this I will be able to help myself stick to a healthier lifestyle diet and stay there. I need to get down to baby making weight.

Lastly, the youngest Lyndsey...
Hi, I recently got married on March 18, 2011. I have not gained any weight since the wedding, but I didn't lose any weight before it either. After taking a Nutrition and Health class this semester, and giving a final sales presentation on Juice Plus+, I have become motivated to change my eating habits in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthy life will only make life with husband even better than it already is!

Our Group Goal: Fit into our wedding dresses by the end of the summer for a sister wedding dress shoot!
